Was lurking in the blew room today and came across a thread about blacking out the bumper wings.

The dude used Sitristrip to remove the clear coat and some paint, then used brake fluid to remove the rest. It looked pretty good from the pics. Was thinking about attempting this, any thoughts/ideas?

I called my local Yota dealer, and the parts guy(buddy o'mine) said that the TT edition "Black Out" parts are just the un-painted version. So I don't see worry with UV fading or cracking(unless I hit something:drinking:)

I had been up in the air on whether I was going to be able to attend this thing since work has been all over the place for me lately, so I didn't want to say I would be there and not make it. But I will be in town and would love to attend. Jimmy and I have been talking about it and we would like to get a definite head count from those planning to attend so we know how much food to get.

So far it's looking like this...

Sat July 31
Jimmy's House (PM Gonzo for directions)
BYOB or whatever food you want, but we need to head count because we're thinking about getting some Rudy's BBQ for everyone.
Time: ?-? (we'll need the guests of honor's schedules to make that call. DFW guys can show up whenever)

So right here lets get a list of who all will be down for this. So far I know it's Jimmy, me, Cody, and I think Wilson. Anyone else? Post up in here and PM Jimmy for directions. :okay:

1)Jimmy
2)Bryan
3)Cody
4)Wilson (maybe?)

Guests of honor, I haven't heard from you guys yet what your schedules are. You are still coming, right? Otherwise it's just us Dallas guys being goofy as usual on a Saturday night.:rotfl:

Edit: I got out of Jackie that they will be in town no later than 5pm. I don't know if that means rolling into DFW at that time or what. Carol gets in around 5:50.

My CD changer hasn't worked for a really long time... I assumed it was due to dust inhalation, and that appears to be correct. For fun, here's some pics of inside the FJammer and a demonstration of how it works.

The reason I suspected dust was this sort of thing...

FJammer removed...

Top removed...

Face plate removed...

CD changer section removed...

Apparently all of the power and data go through a single ribbon, so I thought I'd plug it all back in while disassembled to see how everything works... pretty neat.

Also interesting was that it will function with the faceplate removed... can't control much with no buttons, but it works!

ive had the tpms light on for years, and just ignored it. but i was diving behind my dash today cutting wires to permanantly disable all the abs / trac / vsc warning lights and thought i'd get rid of that ****ing tpms light at the same time.

instructions -

1. unscrew drivers side glovebox and remove (if you dont know how, stop here, search, and then come back)
2. your left with two harness connectors going into the top of the instrumet cluster. the one on the left (driver) is plug (A) and the one on the right is plug (B). we need plug (A)
3. the tpms wire is A32. it is pink with a black stripe. you'll find it on the row of wires closest to the driver position, far left on plug A.

this wire needs a constant 12v to turn it off and trick the system into thinking everythings peachy. either using a scotch lok or, as i did, strip insulation and soldering, you need to connect the tpms wire A32 with the red/blue stripe wire located on the same plug (position A17, same row as A32 wire, opposite side of the plug) Do not cut either wire, just tie them in together so that the A32 shares A17s IGN+ signal.

if youve done it right, the tpms light goes out and you'll never see it again. if you've done it wrong, thats your problem. grab another beer and proceed to step 1.

Got stuck today, had to call a buddy of mine with a Taco, and a winch to come get me out. My son tried with his Durango, but it wouldn't budge. We tried my Hi-lift jack as a winch but had to use the two straps we had between us so we couldn't tie him off to the tree so I just drug him. It was still alot of fun, but the wife flipped me the finger when I asked her if she was having fun. It might have had something to do with her wet feet from the water coming in the door!
